117/365 Chapeaus Afghan Square

by Edna Howell
completed 03 June 2012

I didn't have my I hook with me when I started this one. I borrowed a hook from a coworker, and she only had a J. So the hat is done with a J, and the rest f the square is done with an I hook.

I added another round of banded doubles and another round of half doubles to bring this to 12”. Can I just say that I loved this square? I personally am not a fan of the petals being floppy, but overall, it's just gorgeous!

115/365 Untitled

by Ruth C. Roy
completed 07 May 2012

Created by Ruth C. Roy (aka 72pixie) ©2012,
Inspired by Julie Yeager's Stained Glass Afghan Square

I really liked how Julie's square (posted 2 days ago) started out, so I decided to make a 6-inch square out of it. I didn't actually write out the pattern for it, just kind of improvised. However, I will get it written out for you; I promise. (=

Pattern to come!

Collage #1

(1) Highland Rose, (2) Antique Pearls, (3) Yarn Clouds, (4) 16 Circles, (5) Square 19 of 99, (6) Pretty Petals, (7) Spring Fling, (8) Esther's Square, (9) Multi-Color Flower, (10) Circle of Friends, (11) Flower Square, (12) Love & Honor, (13) Morning Glory

This was the first afghan I decided I would do when I began this journey, as I am the only person in my home for whom I have not yet made an afghan. Everyone else has at least one. So, this is just for me. The patterns that jump out at me due to their amazing textures or due to the results I've seen from other people's color changes go into this one. This is the one that will *pop* for me. I'm loving it so far. (=

I didn't see this one as a flower, so I did it up in Austin's colors to add to the other star motifs I have already done for him.

069/365 - Forest Chains

by Jessica Gil

I love how this one worked up, though I'm less than pleased with how it sizes up. With my standard 39 stitches per side, it's still about 12 1/4" inches long on each side ... but about 11" wide across the middle. I know that putting it into an afghan will stretch the center portion, but it still doesn't make me happy. I don't like puckery squares. /=

066/365 - More V's Please

by Melinda Miller

This was the square chosen for the Sampler Favorites CAL on Ravelry (in the group "afghans & blankets"). I'd had it in my queue already, but this was the perfect excuse to move it up to the top. I really liked it and may make it again in the future.

I saw this done by someone else and decided to give it a go. My color changes didn't work out as planned this time around, so this one will likely be adding to Paisley's blankie. However, I think I know what I need to do. Expect to see this one again soon.
