071/365 - May Flower

by Donna Mason-Svara

I didn't see this one as a flower, so I did it up in Austin's colors to add to the other star motifs I have already done for him.

062/365 - Snowfall II

Snowfall by Aurora Suominen

I worked this using modifications by Scraplyn (on Ravelry), and I quote:

I changed all TR to DC, DC to HDC, and HDC to SC. I left the SC alone. In round 5 I changed the CH6 to CH4.

I did find that the square would not lay flat for me, but the first one didn't either. Same pattern of pucker, just on a smaller scale. Perhaps it'll straighten out when it's attached to other squares. We'll see.

051/365 - Squaring the Big Circle

by Kate Jenks

I ran out of Navy, so this became a two-color square out of necessity. Fortunately, Joann's has plenty more online (in addition to a couple others that look a little skimpy). (;

I added a round of trebles to make it 12" (was 10" at pattern completion). I could see making this one over and over again.

Joining Squares

So, there are a few joining methods floating around out there, and each has its merits. I decided today that I would test one that looked cool to me (and that I'd read good things about on Ravelry). It's the Flat Braid Joining Technique by Priscilla Hewitt. I had some squares which hadn't turned out quite as I'd have liked (previously labeled as being for Cassidy, Austin, and me), so I decided to put them together for my puppy.

And yes, I know the squares don't match each other, but Paisley doesn't care. It helps that she's colorblind, but still. (;

039/365 - Star Overlay

by Chris Simon

I frogged the connecting round 3 times before I got it right. Once I did, it turned out great.

026/365 - 78 of 99

Can I just say how much I love the texture of this square? It's just simple front- and back-post stitches that make the difference, but what a difference!

007/365 - Carousel Square

by Priscilla Hewitt

This was the first time I ever worked two colors on the same round at the same time. It took a little getting used to!

I like how it worked up in multiple colors. I may have to do this one again!

003/365 Snowfall

I'm a little late on posting ... Didn't have access to the computer. )= So, without further ado, here's my square from Tuesday:

It's a lovely 12" square by Aurora Suominen. I'm actually thinking of frogging it and doing it over again. I don't like that the variegated yarn hides the texturing that's designed into the square. I'd like that to shine through. A solid color will work much better for that ... perhaps the red? (Actually, I'm switching reds, too. This one looks too orange once it's worked up.)
